Ducks miss the cut CHASKA, Minn. -- Andrew Tredway of Ashland improved in Thursday's second round of the NCAA Men's Golf Championships at Hazeltine National Golf Club, but the University of Oregon junior failed to make the cut in the 72-hole event. Tredway shot a 10-over-par 82 in the second round to go with his opening-round 85 for a 36-hole score of 167 and a 153rd-place finish. The 15th-ranked Ducks missed the team cut by six strokes. Oregon finished tied for 18th with Duke in the 30-team field with a 36-hole score of 614. Oregon finished better than it did last year, when it tied for 27th in Albuquerque, N.M. The top 15 teams play through Saturday. Junior Ryan Lavoie of Pasco, Wash., was the only Oregon player to make the cut. Lavoie registered a 36-hole total of 149, eight strokes off individual leader Luke Donald of Northwestern. Clemson leads the field with a 14-over 590, one stroke better than Brigham Young and three strokes ahead of third-place UNLV. |
