Dianne M. Dahle

The memorial service for Dianne M. Dahle will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland. The Rev. Don Baker of Ashland Christian Fellowship will officiate. Friends and relatives will gather following the service at the Windmill Inn of Ashland.

Mrs. Dahle, 49, of Ashland, died Monday (May 31, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Equamore Foundation, 4723 Highway 66, Ashland, OR 97520.

She was born Dianne Bruno on Jan. 20, 1950, in Marlborough, Mass., a daughter of Robert and Abbie (Morrill) Bruno.

On Sept. 30, 1972, in Whittier, Calif., she married Dave Dahle, who survives. She moved to Ashland in 1974.

Mrs. Dahle was an editorial assistant at the Mail Tribune Ashland bureau for nearly 18 years.

She enjoyed animals and was a horse-riding enthusiast.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Jeffrey Robert, Reno, Nev., and Jonathan David, Ashland; two sisters, Gail Chambers, Medford, and Roberta Ascarate, Garden Grove, Calif.; and her mother, Abbie Bruno, Whittier, Calif. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Bruno.

Ella E. Mayfield

The funeral for Ella E. Mayfield will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Central Valley Chapel in Central Point. Pastor John Bigham of Reedsport Christian Church will officiate.

Mrs. Mayfield, 85, of Central Point, died Tuesday (June 1, 1999) at Hearthstone.

She was born Ella Blackman on June 5, 1913, in Omaha, Neb. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1926.

On Nov. 17, 1934, in Medford, she married Raymond Mayfield, who survives.

Mrs. Mayfield was an office manager for Dumas Laundry in Medford and an insurance clerk for Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Mrs. Mayfield was active in the Church of Christ.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Delbert, Central Point; two daughters, Sharon Lyon, Salem, and Velma Olsen, Auburn, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and a grandson.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care.

 

Ida G. Dansby-Morgan

The funeral for Ida Gray Dansby-Morgan will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn of Providence Hospice will officiate. Interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mrs. Morgan, 65, of White City, died Monday (May 31, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Home, Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Ida Dansby on Oct. 8, 1933, in Clanton, Ala. She was a graduate of Auburn University in Alabama.

On Nov. 28, 1973, in Alabama, she married James C. Morgan, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1998 from Rockford, Ala.

Mrs. Morgan was an executive secretary for the Department of Labor in Montgomery, Ala., until her retirement.

She enjoyed football, music and classic movies.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Albert L. Shockley, Huntsville, Ala., and Sidney L. Shockley, Rusk, Texas; a daughter, Laura Shockley, Powder Springs, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Judy Beeson, El Cajon, Calif., and Pamela S. Walsh, Lakeside, Calif.; two stepsons, Randy T. Morgan, White City, and Ronald J. Morgan, Sun City, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Julius Berlin

Friends and relatives of Julius Berlin will gather for a no-host lunch at noon Sunday at Standing Stone Brewery, 101 Oak St., Ashland.

Mr. Berlin, 88, of Ashland, died Saturday (May 29, 1999) at Medford Rehabilitation Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Oregon Humane Society, 2910 Table Rock Road, Medford, OR 97501, or to the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S. Pacific Highway, Phoenix, OR 97535.

He was born Aug. 21, 1910, in Michigan. He moved to Ashland in 1977 from New York City.

Mr. Berlin worked for the New York City subway until his retirement.

He was a member of several groups -- the Humanists, the Monthly Review and EarthSave. He was a Marxist, supported labor parties and believed in animal rights.

Mr. Berlin enjoyed the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and talking.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Robert J. Bigger

Robert J. Bigger, 74, of Grants Pass, died Monday (May 31, 1999) at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center. The graveside service was held Wednesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Wes Winn officiated.

Mr. Bigger was born July 29, 1924, in Portland.

He joined the Merchant Marines at an early age and traveled extensively, ending up in Australia, where he met and married his wife, Patricia. He moved to Medford from Australia in 1955 and to Grants Pass in 1969.

Mr. Bigger managed the Rogue Recovery House in Grants Pass.

He was a past member of the Elks and Lions clubs.

Mr. Bigger enjoyed snow skiing, traveling, reading and fishing and camping.

Survivors include two daughters, Chris Gates, Grants Pass, and Helen Walton, Eugene; two sons, Michael, Salem, and Robert, Melbourne, Australia; a sister, Shirley Anderson, Roseburg; a brother, Forest, Central Point; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Halsey.

John H. Magness

The graveside service for John H. Magness will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mountain View Cemetery in Ashland. The Rev. Don Baker of Ashland Christian Fellowship will officiate.

Mr. Magness, 68, of Ashland, died Tuesday (June 1, 1999) at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Roseburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Schools Foundation, 885 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, OR 97520.

He was born July 25, 1930, in Mt. Belview, Texas.

On Dec. 1, 1962, in Nevada, he married Georgia G. Wiggins, who survives. He moved to Ashland in 1976.

Mr. Magness served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946 until 1976. He was stationed all over the world, including the South Pacific, Europe and North, Central and South America. He retired with the rank of chief master sergeant.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.

Mr. Magness enjoyed fishing and his family.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Ramona Harper, Ashland; his mother, Jewel Lott, Athens, Texas; two sisters, Jessie Lee Benedict, Athens, Texas, and Christine Keel, Lubbock, Texas; and a granddaughter.

Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

 

George Allen Graves

George Allen Graves, 59, of Eagle Point, died Saturday (May 29, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Crater Lake Ave., Suite 10, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born June 29, 1939, in Meridian, Idaho. He was raised in Medford, a son of Tom and Vera Graves.

On April 3, 1975, in Anchorage, Alaska, he married Pat Trott, who survives.

Mr. Graves was a self-employed plumbing contractor locally and in Alaska.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and flying.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Marcy Cartwright, Rocky Point; four sons, Rich Graves, Phoenix, Rory Graves, Talent, Doug Black, White City, and David Black, Vicksburg, Miss.; his mother, Vera Graves, Medford; a brother, Tommy J., Medford; and 18 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom, and a son, Mark Graves.

Harold Holmes Bruce

Harold Holmes Bruce, 69, of Medford, died Tuesday (June 1, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

 

Beverly Jean White

Beverly Jean White, 64, of White City, died Tuesday (June 1, 1999) at her home. Arrangements will be announced by Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

 

Dorathy B. Anderson

Dorathy B. Anderson, 85, of Medford, died Monday (May 31, 1999) at her home. Arrangements will be announced by Abbey Funeral, Medford.

 

Lazern C. Crydenwise

Lazern Clarence Crydenwise, 94, of Ashland, died Wednesday (June 2, 1999) at his home. Arrangements will be announced by Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

 

Elizabeth F. Kinnan

Elizabeth Frances Kinnan, 71, of Talent, died Wednesday (June 2, 1999) in Central Point. Arrangements will be announced by Hillcrest Mortuary.
