continue to struggle on road trip
SPOKANE -- After losing 6-5 on Saturday, the Spokane Indians came back to hand Southern Oregon its 10th loss on the season with a 7-3 victory Sunday afternoon. The TimberJacks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning taking advantage of a Spokane error. With one out, Brad Henderson drew a walk and Mike Lockwood followed with a single to right field that allowed Henderson to score after a Spokane throwing error. Spokane came back in the bottom of the inning tagging Southern Oregon pitcher Keith Surkont for three runs on six hits to take a 3-1 lead. Southern Oregon tied it at three in the top of the third on Kirk Asche's two-run shot to left field, but the Indians were quick to answer as they scored three more runs in the bottom of the inning. Designated hitter Liam Healy drove a three-run homer to left field to give Spokane a 6-3 lead. The Indians added one more run in the fifth on an RBI single by Kevin Lucas. Southern Oregon's Lockwood, who was 2-for-4, extended his hitting streak to eight games. The Timberjacks wrap-up their eight-game road trip with a 7:05 p.m. game against Spokane tonight. |
