flips, kills man from Grants Pass EAGLE POINT -- A 31-year-old man was killed Wednesday afternoon when his four-wheel-drive vehicle went out of control, spun into a ditch and flipped onto its top. Brett Franklin Palmerton of Grants Pass was pronounced dead at the scene, Jackson County sheriff's deputies said. No one else was injured. About 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Palmerton was driving a 1975 Toyota Land Cruiser south on Agate Road near Eagle Point. The vehicle was pulling a flatbed trailer full of wood and pieces of a metal sliding garage door. Just south of Linn Road, Palmerton apparently lost control of the Land Cruiser after the trailer fishtailed back and forth, deputies said. The vehicle and the trailer spun, went into the ditch on the east side of Agate Road and flipped over. Palmerton was crushed under the steering wheel and the driver's side door. He apparently was not wearing a seat belt, deputies said. It was not known where Palmerton was headed or what he was doing. |
