report U-16 striker Hart has three hat tricks in row Gus Hart, a member of the Ashland Storm under-16 Classic League soccer team, scored three goals in three consecutive games recently. Hart's hat trick binge began April 26 against the Table Rock Soccer Club. He then scored three goals against Klamath Falls on May 2 and three against Montague, Calif. May 3. Hart is a 15-year-old striker. Rogue River seeking to hire several coaches Rogue River High School is actively looking to fill some coaching vacancies for fall and winter sports. The Skyline Conference school is searching for head varsity coaches for football, volleyball, boy's basketball, cross-country and dance team. Assistant coaching positions for girl's basketball, boy's basketball (2) and football (2) are also open. Drag strip kicks off season on Saturday The Southern Oregon Dragway launches its 1998 season on Saturday with bracket racing and street legal racing. Gates open at 9 a.m. and eliminations begin at 2 p.m. at the facility in the Jackson County Sports Park. During Saturday's action, the top eight ETs of the afternoon will race head to head for extra money and points. Scales shoots for third straight victory Ken Scales will shoot for his third victory without a loss in the modified divison when actions resumes at the Southern Oregon Speedway on Saturday night. In honor of Mother's Day, the first 300 moms entering the gates will receive a free rose. Competition will be held in modifieds, pro stocks, mini-stocks, mini-trucks and dwarf cars. A special event will be "crash madness," where passengers will direct blindfolded drivers on where to go. |
