Challengers cut down Bonanza

WHITE CITY -- The Cascade Christian baseball team galloped all over Bonanza Tuesday, scoring 11 runs in the second inning en route to a 16-0 non-league win.

In a game that took less than an hour and a half to complete, Cascade improved to 16-3 overall. The Challengers are tied with Lost River atop the District 6 standings with a 7-1 record.

"The coaching staff is really pleased," Cascade coach John Bruce said. "The guys have really committed themselves to playing well."

Shortstop Don Jenkins went 4-for-4 with four RBIs for Cascade, which had 14 hits on the day. Cascade pitcher Aaron Beamish, who helped his own cause by going 3-for-4 with an RBI, improved to 3-1 with the win.

Beamish worked four strong innings, allowing two hits without a walk.

Cascade wraps up its regular season Saturday at Chiloquin. It will likely take a Chiloquin sweep to keep the Crusaders from the playoffs.

"I think we've got a good chance," Bruce said. "We stack up well against a lot of teams. It's going to come down to pitching."
