report Bruce Jenner to speak in Medford on Tuesday Former Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner will speak on Tuesday at the Rogue Valley Country Club, beginning at 7 p.m. Jenner's talk, titled "Finding the Champion Within," will center on the Longevity Network money-making system. Sleezer to fight in Golden Gloves event Sam Sleezer of Medford's Bulldog Boxing Club will compete in the National Golden Gloves boxing tournament in Biloxi, Miss., which begins today. He will fight in the open heavyweight division of the single-elimination tournament. Sleezer's first fight is expected to be Tuesday. The 23-year-old was named the outstanding boxer in winning the Oregon Golden Gloves championship. He then qualified for nationals by winning the regional event in Las Vegas. Sleezer, who weighs 195 pounds, has an 18-7 record. Rangers take pair from Oregon team The Rogue Valley Rangers staved off a late comeback by a University of Oregon team to score a 7-6 victory in exhibition hockey Sunday at The RRRink. The Rangers built a 6-1 lead only to see Oregon rally to tie the game in the third period. Allan Hendricks scored the winning goal late in the third period. Mario Arenas had a hat trick to pace Rogue Valley, which also got goals from Glen Neilson, David Wheeler and Bill Olden. Rogue Valley beat the same Oregon team 8-7 on Saturday. Chris McGee, Owen Martin, Carl Jacobs and Arenas all had two goals each in that victory. |
