Tune-Up softball tournament slated

Golden Spike Pizzeria will host the annual Tune-Up Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament May 16-17 at Southern Oregon Fields in White City.

There will be play for 32 men's D and E class teams and for 16 women's open teams.

The cost is $175 per team, and each team is guaranteed three games.

The deadline is May 13.

Senior Babe Ruth signups are Saturday

Sign-ups for a new Senior Babe Ruth baseball league will be Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and May 9 from 10 a.m.-noon at Big 5 Sporting Goods in Medford.

Players ages 16-18 in Medford, Central Point, Prospect, Butte Falls and Eagle Point are eligible.

Cost is $125 per player and a birth certificate is required to sign up.

Ashland Little League to put on breakfast

ASHLAND - Ashland Little League's annual pancake breakfast will be May 9 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Walker School cafeteria.

The cost is $3 per person. In honor of Mother's Day, the first 50 moms will receive a free carnation from a local flower shop.

Cougar boxers to have open house, card

The Rogue Valley Cougar boxing club will hold an open house and a Blue and Gold intrasquad scrimmage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at its White City gym.

The club is at 600 W. Dutton Road, about six-tenths of a mile past the V.A. Domiciliary. A $2 voluntary donation is being requested for the 15- to 20-bout card that will have some boxers making their debut.

Elks to host breakfast to benefit Babe Ruth

The Ashland Elks will host a benefit breakfast for Ashland Babe Ruth baseball Sunday at their lodge on 255 E. Main St.

The event takes place from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $4.

Water polo teams sponsor golf tourney

The Ashland High water polo teams are sponsoring a golf tournament and barbecue May 9 at Oak Knoll Golf Course.

The cost is $65 a person, which includes 18 holes of golf and the barbecue. The four-person scramble begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. For those who only want to attend the barbecue, the cost $10. The signup deadline is May 6.

Ashland High senior Jason Allred, the reigning U.S. Junior Amateur golf champion, will be a special guest.

The event includes a raffle, hole-in-one prize and putting contest. Also available are Ashland High water polo players for caddies, hole sponsorships and $5 mulligans.

Basketball camp set for the summer

The Play To Win Basketball Camp will be held in two sessions this summer at Ashland High School.

Sessions will be from June 29-July 3 for 9- to 11-year-olds and July 6-10 for 12- to 14-year-olds.

Cost is $120 per session, with a limit of 60 campers. The fee is $80 for any additional family member.

Sessions take place from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. until noon on Friday.

Each session is staffed by area high school and AAU coaches.

Registration forms are available in the administrative offices of all schools in the Ashland School District.
