Bostrom bowls 722 at state tournament

Medford's Scharie Bostrom rolled a 722 series at the Oregon State Women's Bowling Association state tournament at Beaverton's Valley Lanes on Saturday.

Bostrom, who entered the tournament with a 201 average, rolled games of 233, 214 and 275.

Botts, Arthur to meet at RV tennis tourney

Tami Botts and Jessyca Arthur will renew their rivalry in the women's open singles finals today at the $5,000 Rogue Valley Open Tennis Championships at the Rogue Valley Swim and Tennis Club.

Botts of Ashland and Arthur of Klamath Falls have met numerous times in the their prep careers in both the Southern Oregon Conference and the Class 4A state tournament. Both players are 1998 high school graduates and have a state singles championship to their credit.

The mixed open doubles finals also has an SOC flavor. Scott Schnugg of North Medford High will team with Klamath Union's Arthur against his North Medford teammate Jonathan Endrikat and Botts.

Former South Medford High and Notre Dame college player Will Forsyth is matched with Eugene's Mark Quinney in the men's open doubles semifinals.

Matches begin at 9 a.m. with the men's open singles final between Quinney and Brian Joelsen of Portland set for 12:30 p.m.
