Drug arrest nets meth in Phoenix school zone

PHOENIX — The Medford police gangs and street drug unit found a half-pound of methamphetamine in a house within 1,000 feet of Phoenix Elementary School and arrested a resident on multiple drug charges.

Medford drug investigators served a search warrant Thursday at the North Church Street home of Felissa Lorraine Kelly, 31, said Medford police Lt. Tim Doney. They had information that Kelly was dealing meth, he said.

In their search, investigators found half a pound of crystal meth, a "substantial amount" of cash, a handgun and a laptop computer that had been reported stolen, Doney said.

Officers arrested Kelly on charges of manufacture, delivery and possession of methamphetamine and delivery and manufacture of methamphetamine near a school.

She was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $65,000 bail.

Court records show that this isn't Kelly's first drug offense. She was arraigned in Jackson County Circuit Court in February on an indictment charging her with manufacture, delivery and possession of methamphetamine and possession and delivery of designer drugs.

She is awaiting trial on those charges.
