Friday, Feb. 9

ROSEHIP RAMBLERS: The Rosehip Ramblers and the Goldman Family Band will present a memorial concert for veteran Albert Pepe Sr. at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at the Bellview Grange, 1050 Tolman Creek Road, Ashland. Pepe fought at the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, and he played spoons for the Ramblers at local concerts. A potluck dinner will begin at 6 p.m. Admission is $5. Call 821-3995.

CZECH NONET: Chamber Music Concerts will present Czech Nonet at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, and 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Southern Oregon University Music Recital Hall, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Czech Nonet is one of the longest continuously performing chamber ensembles in the world — the founding members formed the group in 1923 at the Prague Conservatory in the Czech Republic. The ensemble's instrumentation is based on Spohr's Grand Nonetto, composed in 1813 for violin, viola, cello, contrabass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn. Tickets cost $26 and $30 for adults, $5 for students. Czech Nonet will present a free early performance and lecture at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, and a workshop for students from Southern Oregon University and the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, in the Music Recital Hall. MUSIC WITH JACK SCHUMAN: A performance and talk by Jack Schuman will be presented at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Jacksonville Library, 340 W. C St., Jacksonville. Schuman will perform on antique musical instruments from his collection of more than 600 pieces from Europe, Africa, Asia, South America, Indonesia and the Middle East, including an 18th century vielle a roue, or hurdy-gurdy. AQUARIAN LOVEFEST: IWill Presents will host the ninth annual Aquarian Lovefest Valentine Dance Party featuring bluegrass by State of Jefferson, reggae by Soul Majestic and Locura and belly dancing by Aiwa She' Raqa at 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at Out of the Way Cafe (formerly the American Legion Hall), 123 Blodgett Road, Williams. Dinner will be available until 8 p.m. with appetizers until midnight and there will be a beer and wine bar. This is an all-ages show, with a separate youth and child room upstairs with video movie and sleep corner. Tickets are $15-$20 on a sliding scale for adults, $10 for children (ages 13 to 17). COWBOY MUSIC: The Eagle Point Library Second Saturday series will present guitarist David Christian, who will pay tribute to the late Chris LeDoux, singer/songwriter of old and new cowboy songs, and the music of Guy Clarke. ROGUE VALLEY HARMONIZERS: The Rogue Valley Harmonizers men's barbershop chorus and quartets will present "Wagons West" at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Performing Arts Center at Grants Pass High School, 830 N.E. TAJ MAHAL TRIO: The Taj Mahal Trio will perform as part of Southern Oregon University's One World Concert Series at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. Taj Mahal won Grammy Awards for his albums "Señor Blues" in 1997 and "Shoutin' in Key" in 2000. The trio features Taj Mahal on guitar, piano and banjo, Bill Rich on bass and Kester Smith on drums.
