- Ashland Parks and Recreation is hosting an all-levels cross-country skiing workshop. Instructors will include experts from the Southern Oregon chapter of the Oregon Nordic Club. - Southern Oregon University Youth Programs is offering "Marvelous Must Have Manners" for children ages 8-12 from 3 to 4 p.m. Sundays beginning Jan. 21 and running through Feb. 25, in the Campbell Building on the SOU campus, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Students will learn proper etiquette for handshaking practices, eye contact, body language, proper table manners and cultural communication skills. Learn the importance of RSVPs and thank-you notes and participate in a tutorial lunch that provides the opportunity to practice the new skills. Lunch is included in the class fee of $79. - "Enchanted Kingdoms" for kids 8-12: 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturdays beginning Jan. 27 and running through March 3 on the SOU Campus, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd. Participants will enter the world of kings, queens, knights and castles and learn to draw them. All skill levels are invited.
- "Life Drawing and Portraiture" for kids 13-17: 2:30 to 4 p.m. Saturdays starting Jan. 27 and running through March 3 on the SOU campus. Participants will explore the various drawing styles, techniques and devices involved in figure drawing and portraiture, learn anatomical groupings, proportioning, shading and capturing likeness in an easy-to-understand process using live, clothed models.
- "Conquering the Essay," an essay writing class for youth 15-18: 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays starting Jan. 27 and running through March 3 on the SOU Campus. Participants will learn how to boost their score on the SAT timed essay and enhance the college entrance essay by building a knowledge bank of specific examples from history, literature, and personal experience.
- "Dance Floor Dazzle for Teens," a dance class for youth 13-17: 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays starting Jan. 30 and running through March 20 in the Evergreen Ballroom in Central Point. Participants will learn the steps to tango, salsa, waltz and swing dance.
North Mountain Park Nature Center invites kids 12 and up and adults are invited to create natural bird feeders from locally grown gourds from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at North Mountain Park Nature Center, 620 N. The Storytelling Guild and Craterian Performances will present the Portland-based Tears of Joy Puppet Theater's production of "The Reluctant Dragon" at 1:30 and 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. Doors will open one half hour before the performances. Seating is limited.
