Q&A: Bryce Peila, Crater High

What's your role with the Comets?

My role with the Comets is to go out there and be a leader, play tough defense and make the plays when we need them.

How do you feel about reclassification and the formation of the Southern Sky Conference?

I would say that it's good because we're with schools our size, but I still believe that we could compete with the old conference?

What's your personal highlight in sports?

One of my personal highlights was last year in Barlow. We had a tournament and I blocked a guy off the backboard and then led to a fast-break dunk by James Oshel.

What would you change about high school sports?

I would put a shot clock in to make basketball games more fast-paced.

If you could spend an hour with a sports figure, who would it be and why?

It would be Vince Carter because I've always looked up to him. Everything he does in games I try to transfer to my game.

What superstition or regimen do you have before a game?

Well, a couple hours before the game I always drink a 20-ounce Mountain Dew Code Red and listen to my iPod.

What's your favorite school subject and why?

My favorite subject is Rogue Eco because Mr. Smith is a great teacher and we do a lot of outdoor activities.

What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?

In 10 years I could see myself pursuing a career in becoming a detective.

Bryce Peila is a junior guard on the Crater High boys basketball team.
