A Jackson County Grand Jury indicted Ryan Burke on a murder charge Thursday for allegedly killing his wife late last week.
Burke's first appearance in Jackson County Circuit Court will come sometime next week, officials said in a news release.
Burke was charged with the killing of his wife, Candy Burke, 24, sometime Friday. Her body was found three days later at Agate Lake near White City.
The Burkes' three boys, ranging in ages 2 to 4, have returned to Jackson County and are in state custody. Police are alleging Burke fled with the children to Nevada, where they stayed with family until Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a candlelight vigil in memory of Candy Burke is scheduled Saturday in a grassy area near the couple's home in the 7900 block of Ajax Street.
Lisa Hibberds and Corena Bennett, both of whom work at a 7-Eleven convenience store in White City where Candy Burke was a frequent customer, said the vigil is open to everyone and will begin at 6 p.m.
"We're just going to spend an hour remembering her," Hibberds said.
