The children of a murdered White City woman were taken into protective custody in Nevada today, a day after their father was charged with killing their mother, officials said.
The three boys have been with the sister and brother-in-law of Ryan Scott Burke, 28, in Fernley, Nev., since his wife's disappearance late last week, Jackson County sheriff's Detective Sgt. Colin Fagan said Tuesday.
Karina Marshall, Candy Burke's mother, said the boys, who are 2, 3 and 4, probably will remain in state custody after their return to Oregon.
"I also think the police will want to ask them some questions," she said.
Burke, who is legally blind, drove the kids to Nevada in his white Ford station wagon two days after his wife, Candy Burke, 24, was reported missing, police said.

A fund to help the family pay for funeral costs has been set up at the People's Bank branches in Medford and Ashland. Checks can be made out to the "Marshall Memorial Fund."
Detectives searched the Burke house, which sits in the 7900 block of Ajax Avenue, for the second time Tuesday. They are continuing their search for evidence in the case.
Candy Burke's body was found Sunday in a channel just north of Agate Lake. Ryan Burke turned himself in to police Monday night and remains lodged in the Jackson County Jail on a murder charge.
