MOUNT SHASTA FILM FESTIVAL: The third annual Mount Shasta International Film Festival will present a weekend of films from the U.S., Canada, Europe, Africa, and Asia Oct. 13-15, at the Coming Attractions Theatre in downtown Mount Shasta and at Ford Theater at the College of the Siskiyous in Weed, Calif.
GENTLE THUNDER: There will be an evening of live music by Gentle Thunder along with readings and photography by Eric Alan at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the Hidden Springs Wellness Center, Ashland, 1651 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. DUISSEN TRIO: The Southern Oregon University Department of Music will present an evening of chamber music with the Duissen Trio at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, in the SOU Music Recital Hall, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd. The Trio will perform a variety of works from the solo and chamber repertoire including works by J.S. MEDFORD JAZZ JUBILEE: The 18th annual Medford Jazz Jubilee will be held the weekend of Oct. 13-15. HIGH SCHOOL CHOIRS: The Southern Oregon University Department of Music will host the 10th annual High School Honor Choir Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, in the Music Recital Hall, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. The free concert will feature a mass choir of 120 high school singers from 12 high schools throughout the state. The concert will be conducted by all three members of the SOU Choral Faculty, Paul French, Fredna Grimland, and Kirby Shaw. The SOU Chamber Choir will make its 2006-07 debut at the concert and the directors of the participating choirs will join together with the SOU choral faculty in a Directors Choir. When a group of passengers on the midnight bus to Topeka take refuge from a snowstorm at Grace's Diner, the locals and their guests get to know each other and themselves a little better. - DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE: David Edgar's adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's novella, directed by Penny Metropulos, explores the results of Dr. Henry Jekyll's experiments that turn the murderous Mr. Edward Hyde loose to prey on the unwary people of London. The play runs through Oct. 28 in the Angus Bowmer Theatre.
- THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST: Directed by Peter Amster, Oscar Wilde's drawing-room play follows the antics of John Worthing and his friend Algernon Moncrieff as they fall in love with two young ladies who have their hearts set on marrying men named Earnest. In response, the two men engage in an elaborate deception featuring a fictional wayward brother and an imaginary invalid. The show runs through Oct. 28 in the Angus Bowmer Theatre.
- INTIMATE APPAREL: Directed by Timothy Bond, Lynn Nottage's play visits the world of Esther Mills, a hard-working, independent black seamstress in 1905 Manhattan who crafts exquisite undergarments for ladies. The play won five major awards, including the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for the Best Play of the 2003-04 Season. The show runs through Oct. 18 in the Angus Bowmer Theatre.
- KING JOHN: Directed by John Sipes, William Shakespeare's play explores the world of King John, whose reign was a mixture of craftiness and intrigue. The play runs through Oct. 29 in the New Theatre.
- THE WINTER'S TALE: Directed by Libby Appel, Shakespeare's play explores the consequences of the poisonous jealousy of King Leontes. Only the passage of time and the loss of some of his dearest loves can bring forgiveness and reunion. The show runs through Oct. 29 in the Angus Bowmer Theatre.
