Britt Festivals tickets plentiful, for nowWith tickets for Britt Festivals' 2006 concert season ready to go on sale to the public at 8:30 a.m. Monday, tickets remain for all artists. Although no shows were sold out in the members-only pre-sale, some sold out of reserved seats and have only general admission tickets left. "We're down about 17 percent from last year," marketing director Kelly Gonzales said of pop season sales. "Classical sales are up 21 percent, so that's the good news." The Britt season runs June 9 through Sept. 3 with nearly 50 artists in jazz, blues, pop, dance, folk, country, comedy and classical music. Tickets are available at www.brittfest.org, by phone at 773-6077 or 800 882-7488 or at the box office at 216 W. Main St., Medford. In addition to the usual lineup of shows at the Britt Pavilion in Jacksonville, Britt will also present concerts at the Lithia Motors Amphitheater at the Jackson County Expo Park in Central Point. That venue does not belong to Britt, nor does it follow Britt policies in, for example, allowing concertgoers to bring food and drink into the shows. Beer, wine, soft drinks and food are available on the grounds. A Chicago performance for Aug. 29 was sold out, but Britt added a second show the following night, for which plenty of tickets are left. "The closest thing to selling out right now is The Temptations," Gonzales said. "And that's at 1,650 tickets sold out of 2,200." That's June 16, with The Four Tops opening. "There are at least several hundred left for everything," Gonzales said. The Bob Marley Roots Rock Festival scheduled for Aug. 3 at the amphitheater has been canceled because of personnel changes. The shows for which only lawn seating is available are Hall and Oates June 13, Linda Ronstadt June 18, Elvis Costello June 22, Nickel Creek July 3, The Temptations July 16, Hootie and the Blowfish July 22, Lee Ann Womack July 26, Vicki Lawrence July 29, Gordon Lightfoot Aug. 22, STYX Aug. 24, k.d. lang Aug 27 and Chicago Aug. 29 and 30. Other names on the summer music festival are Lynyrd Skynyrd, Carrie Underwood, Rob Thomas with special guest Jason Mraz, CAKE, Deana Carter, Spyro Gyra, Arlo Guthrie, The Radiators, Ivan Neville, Michael Franti and Spearhead and more. Britt's Classical Festival features the Britt Festival Orchestra under the direction of Peter Bay with big name soloists such as Jon Nakamatsu, Sarah Chang and the Arianna String Quartet. |
