In October 2004, Medford police identified Gilberto Garcia-Parades, 39, as a suspect in the case. The victim was someone Garcia-Parades knew.

Before he could be arrested, Garcia-Parades fled the area. Medford police have issued a nationwide felony warrant for his arrest, with a bail set a $40,000. An additional warrant is held by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department for contempt of court.

Garcia-Parades is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He has unknown tattoos on his left forearm and right arm and a scar on his neck. He may be using variations of his Hispanic name as aliases. Local investigators believe that Garcia-Parades is back in the Jackson County area. Those who have seen him or have information of his whereabouts are asked to call Crime Stoppers of Southern Oregon at 800-3-DETECT (800-333-8328) and refer to case No. MT-205.
