Top-ranked Warriors run past Raiders
Top-ranked Western Baptist College built a commanding first-half lead then cruised to a 94-67 Cascade Conference victory over the Southern Oregon University mens basketball team Saturday in
Salem.
The Warriors (15-0, 2-0 CC) shot 58 percent (38-for-66) from the field and made 11 of 23 from 3-point range to lead by as many as 28 points in the second half.
The nations leading scorer Eric Fiegi, a junior post from Medford, paced all players with 28 points and eight rebounds, connecting on 12 of 18 from the field in 26 minutes played.
The Raiders (3-5, 1-1 CCC) were led by junior Shea Washington who finished with 19 points, five rebounds and five blocked shots. But Washington was limited to 6 of 15 shooting as SOU mustered a
chilly 37-percent shooting clip (22 of 57), including 4-for-19 from beyond the arc.
Jeff Williams had 12 points and Steve Farley added 11 for the Raiders, who play host to Dominican at 7 p.m. Monday.

WESTERN BAPTIST 79, SOUTHERN OREGON 62 At Salem, Western Baptist won for the seventh time in eight games and remained perfect in Cascade Conference play with a triumph over
Southern Oregon.
Sophomore guard Tosha Wilson paced the Warriors (9-4, 2-0 CC) in scoring with 19 points, including a 9-for-10 effort from the free-throw line.
The Raiders (1-12, 0-2), who lost their fifth straight, were paced by Andi Petersons 14 points despite a 4-for-17 shooting clip.
Southern Oregon shot 32 percent (22-for-69) and Western Baptist delivered at 37 percent (26-for-70) for the game.
Courtney Bothum and Chelsey Brock each had 13 points for the Raiders, and Krista Meeks posted a game-high 10 rebounds.

freshman Taylor Wilkerson couldnt pull off the heroics against fifth-ranked Embry-Riddle.
Wilkerson had a match-clinching pin Friday night in SOUs 25-15 victory over Portland State, but Embry-Riddles Rob Charlton used veteran guile to edge the Raider, 6-2, on Saturday.
Rich Vigorito scored a tech fall at 157 pounds to spur a late surge for ninth-ranked SOU, with Jimmy Grochowsky (165) and David OBrien (184) adding major decisions. Nick Ripsom won by
forfeit for SOU.
The Raiders (2-1) are in action again today in the Reno Tournament of Champions.
