RUCH Actor Bruce Campbell, known for his starring role in the horror film "Evil Dead," received minor injuries after his Ford Explorer was struck head-on on Little Applegate Road
late Saturday night.
The 45-year-old Jacksonville resident, whose credits include "Hercules," "Xena, Warrior Princess" and "Spider-Man," was traveling eastbound near Sterling Creek Road
when his vehicle was hit by a Jeep, driven by Steven Michael Sellars, 36, of Medford, according to sheriffs deputies.
Sellars, who was ejected from his vehicle and struck the windshield of the Explorer, was listed by Providence Medical Center in critical condition Sunday after suffering head injuries.
Two passengers in Campbells Explorer, Michael Ditz, 45, and Jennifer Chalsma, 41, of Woodland Hills, Calif., received minor injuries, deputies said.
Campbell, who has a cult following among horror film buffs, was transported to Providence, where he was treated and released.
Chalsma was still listed in fair condition at Providence Sunday, and Ditz was treated and released.
The accident occurred when the Jeep was traveling westbound on Little Applegate and drifted into the oncoming lane, deputies reported.
Both vehicles were totaled, deputies said, but the jeep flipped over into a ditch, caught on fire and started a small grass fire that was quickly extinguished.
Applegate fire officials said the blaze burned about a tenth of an acre, but completely destroyed the Jeep.
Sellars has been cited by the Sheriffs Department for driving under the influence of intoxicants, two counts of fourth- degree assault, one count of third-degree assault, failing to
maintain lane of travel, driving while suspended and also for outstanding traffic tickets.
Deputies havent determined if Sellars was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
