MAIL TRIBUNE > LOCAL > OBITUARIES Elmer Luther Phillips The memorial service for Elmer Luther Phillips will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Rogue Valley Christian Church in Medford. Pastor Jim Wright of Applegate Christian Fellowship will officiate. Inurnment will be at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford. Mr. Phillips, 80, of Medford, died Saturday (Feb. 2, 2002) at Providence Medford Medical Center. He was born Nov. 8, 1921, in Round Mountain, Calif., a son of Ed and Lillian Phillips. He grew up in the timber country, where his parents owned and operated a steam-powered sawmill. He worked at the mill during the summer and attended school in Redding in the winter. In October 1961, in Reno, Nev., he married Marjorie Evans-Lawrence, who survives. Mr. Phillips later became a baker and worked in several local bakeries, including the Rogue Bakery in the 1950s and '60s. For the last 10 years, he worked at Foodland, retiring for health reasons in 2001. He was interested in prospecting and owned several mining claims in the area. He spent much of his time prospecting for gold in Oregon and Northern California. He also enjoyed horseracing and spending time with his family. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Valarie Haga, Central Point, and Marylou Kitselman, Medford; a son, James Lawrence, Phoenix; two brothers, Norman, Palo Cedro, Calif., and David, Cottonwood, Calif.; three sisters, Thelma Smith, Chico, Calif., Edith Stevenson, Redding, Calif., and Lillian Hendrix, Oak Run, Calif.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Toni Lynn (Kitchen) Lycett The memorial service for Toni Lynn (Kitchen) Lycett will be at noon today at Pioneer Hall, 1739 South Fork Little Butte Creek Road, Eagle Point, across from the Lake Creek store. Ms. Lycett, 38, of White City, died Saturday (Feb. 2, 2002) at her home. Memorial contributions may be made to D.A.R.E., 787 W. Eighth St., Medford, OR 97501. She was born Jan. 19, 1964, in San Jose, Calif. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1968. Ms. Lycett was a waitress and a caregiver. She enjoyed her dogs, roses and making candles. Survivors include her companion, Warren West, White City; a son, Zachary Lycett, Medford; her father and stepmother, Brad and Beverly Kitchen, Lacey, Wash.; her mother and stepfather, Nina and Donnie Garrison, Lakecreek; seven brothers, her twin, Gene Kitchen, Medford, Allan Kitchen, Eagle Point, Tom Kitchen, Lakecreek, Tim Kitchen, Barre, Vt., Todd Graves, Augusta, Ga., and Tom and Dale Graves, both Port Orchard, Wash. Ford, 90, of Dunsmuir, Calif., formerly of Ashland, died Jan. 22, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, Calif. The funeral was held Jan. 26, 2002, in Dunsmuir, Calif. The Rev. Richard Scott, retired, officiated. He was born Jan. 14, 1912, in Cooke County, Texas. In Ashland, he attended Southern Oregon Normal School, now known as Southern Oregon University. On June 5, 1937, in Ashland, he married Dorothy (Burns) Ford, who survives. Mr. Ford was a conductor for the Southern Pacific Railroad. At the time of his retirement, he was the head conductor for the Shasta Division. In Ashland, he was a principal at Bellview School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, William S., Tracy, Calif.; two daughters, Judy Brown, Columbia, Calif., and Sue Sauer, Redding, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Noreen Gemaehlich The memorial service for Noreen Gemaehlich will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Telford Chapel of the Valley in East Wenatchee, Wash. Ms. Gemaehlich, 50, of East Wenatchee, Wash., formerly of Medford, died Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2002) in East Wenatchee, Wash. She was born Jan. 30, 1951, in Portland, a daughter of Henry Berthold and Joann Gemaehlich. She married George Reichert. They later divorced. She lived in the Rogue Valley from 1980 to 1986. Ms. Gemaehlich enjoyed painting, cross-stitching, and playing with her grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Poppy Kelly, East Wenatchee, Wash.; three brothers, Robert Gemaehlich, Madras, Dan Kelly, Renton, Wash., and Erik Gemaehlich, Littlerock, Calif.; four sisters, Marilyn Jensen and Yvonne Sanford, both Medford, Roberta Stanfield, Modesto, Calif., and Judy Ramsour, Oregon City; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Gemaehlich; and her former husband, George Reichert. Arrangements: Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, Wash. George P. Reichert George P. Reichert, 48, of Salt Lake City, formerly of Medford, died Oct. 14, 2001, in Salt Lake City. The memorial service was held Oct. 30, 2001, in Salt Lake City. His brother, James Rivett, officiated. He was born Jan. 31, 1953, in Tooele, Utah, a son of George and Mary Reichert. He married Noreen Gemaehlich. They later divorced. Mr. Reichert was a welder. He lived in Medford from 1980 to 1988. He enjoyed fishing, horticulture and riding his Harley. Survivors include two daughters, Poppy Kelly, East Wenatchee, Wash., and Aura Reichert, Eugene; a brother, James Rivett, Marion, Ill.; a sister, Susan Roberts, Salt Lake City; and four grandchildren. Arrangements: Russon Brothers, Salt Lake City. Jack Chamberlain Jack Chamberlain, 74, of Fortuna, Calif., formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Jan. 4, 2002, at his home. The memorial service was held Jan. 12, 2002, at the Hydesville Community Church. Pastors Michael Delamarian and Bob Hapgood officiated. Private interment was at Sunrise Cemetery, Fortuna. He was born March 23,1927, in Samuels, ldaho, a son of Edward R. and Clara (Lambert) Chamberlain. When he was young, the family moved to Grants Pass and later to Ashland and then Eagle Point, where he grew up on a ranch. During World War II, he was drafted into the U.S. Army during his senior year in high school in 1945. His tour of duty was in France and Germany. In Germany, he served with the 98th General Hospital. Following his war duty he returned to Eagle Point and finished his senior year, graduating in 1947. He then attended what is now Southern Oregon University. In 1949, he married Jeanne Adamson, who survives. In 1951, Mr. Chamberlain opened Ed Fountain Lumber Company's wholesale office in Arcata, Calif. It was moved to Fortuna in 1954. The office was closed in 1966 and he went to work for Eel River Sawmills, where he managed the mill at Redcrest. He was a forester and later worked in the office as a lumber salesman, retiring from Eel River Sawmills in 1994. After his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed visiting with family and friends in the deserts of Southern California and Arizona and being with the Eel River Good Sams. He also liked to putter in the barn, take care of the animals and complain about it later. Mr. Chamberlain was a registered forester, a member of the Eel River Good Sams and past member of the Fortuna Rotary, Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department, Redwood Empire Golf and Country Club. He attended Hydesville Community Church. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Karen Johnson, Fortuna; three sons, Rod, lndio, Calif., and Brad and Jay, both Fortuna, Calif.; two brothers, his twin, Dr. Gene, Medford, and Dick, Eagle Point; two sisters, Marion Sturgill, Grants Pass and Georgia Smith, Bell-view, Wash. 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers Clyde "Buzz" and Ray; and a sister, Kay Burns. Arrangements: Goble's Chapel, Fortuna. Harold A. 'Bud' Mulnix Jr. Harold A. "Bud" Mulnix Jr., 62, of Shady Cove, died Sunday (Feb. 3, 2002) at his home. A private service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504. He was born April 24, 1939, in San Francisco. On March 26, 1972, at Lake Tahoe, Nev., he married Jacqueline K. Foreman, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1997 from Folsom, Calif. He had also lived in San Jose, Calif. Mr. Mulnix was a transport driver for Atlantic Richfield Oil, retiring after 20 years. He then worked as a tour bus driver for Royal Coach Tours and as a freight driver for Ozark Trucking. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and motorcycle riding. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Michelle Lynne Struve, Santa Clara, Calif., and Merlene Kay Mulnix, Boise, Idaho; three sons, Mark Ross Foreman, San Jose, Calif., Michael Scott Mulnix, Folsom, Calif., and Harold A. Foreman, Boulder Creek, Calif.; four sisters, Maureen Matlock, Joan Ruiz, Carole Borges and Yvonne Scardina; and seven grandchildren. Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford. Bill Kebschull Bill Kebschull, 88, of Medford, died Saturday (Feb. 2, 2002) at Rogue Valley Manor Health Center. No service is planned. He was born Feb. 22, 1913, in Memphis, Tenn., a son of Otto and Louise Genz Kebschull. In 1937, in Memphis, Tenn., he married Virginia Gourley. On May 4, 1956, in Memphis, Tenn., he married Willie Violet Dotson, who died in 1998. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1979 from Memphis. Mr. Kebschull was a machinist with Layne and Bowler, retiring in 1975. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and storytelling. Survivors include a son, William D., Churchville, Md.; two sisters, Gertrude Harding, Memphis, Tenn., and Margaret Hawkins, Byhalia, Miss.; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild. Evans, 80, of Salem, formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Jan. 24, 2002, at his home. The memorial service was held Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Salem. Among his survivors are four daughters, Carol Evans, Oregon City, Cathy Vieira, Los Alamos, N.M., Christine Evans Gland, Pinckney, Mich., and Sarah Evans Runyon, Corvallis; and two sons, Peter, Medford, and Paul, Bend.
