Lee 'Bud' Damon

The graveside service for Lee "Bud" Damon will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Damon, 75, of Eagle Point, died Saturday (March 30, 2002) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dubs Cancer Center, 2825 Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born July 4, 1926, in Medford, to Lloyd and Elda Damon. He graduated from Eagle Point High School. On Sept. 16, 1978, in Reno, Nev., he married Agnes Gist, who survives.

Mr. Damon worked for the Jackson County Roads Department for more than 25 years. He retired in 1975.

He served in the U.S. Army as part of the occupation forces in Japan at the close of World War II.

Mr. Damon was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where he served twice as president and once as regional president. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge.

He enjoyed hunting, camping and playing darts.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Edward, Medford; a daughter, Kay Simon, Eugene; two stepsons, Richard and Ronald Holzhauser, both Eagle Point; two stepdaughters, Florence Echols, Redding, Calif., and Melva Holzhauser, Eagle Point; two brothers, Robert, Eagle Point, and James, White City; five sisters, Joanne Campbell, Phoenix, Lillian Meyers and Dorothy Waddell, both Eagle Point, and Leah Maxie and Shirley Whaley, both Las Vegas; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Friends may pay their respects from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park.

Marc Dixon Kinney

The funeral service for Marc Dixon Kinney will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Pastor Mike Brown of Table Rock Fellowship will officiate. A reception will follow the service.

Mr. Kinney, 54, of Central Point, died Saturday (March 30, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.

He was born May 5, 1947, in Portland, to Herbert Ralph and Florence Elizabeth (Forster) Kinney. The family moved to the Rogue Valley when he was a child. After graduation from high school, he attended two years of college at Lane Community College and what is now Southern Oregon University in Ashland. On June 24, 1974, in Grants Pass, he married Joyce Winger, who survives.

Mr. Kinney was a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Mr. Kinney was a graphic artist and worked in a variety of mixed media including drawing, painting and poetry.

He was a member of the Table Rock Christian Fellowship and was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Mr. Kinney enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Jason, Central Point, and Tyler, Gold Hill; two daughters, Cassie Johnson, North Pole, Alaska, and Brenna Vance, Greenville, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.

Emily Salsbury Plummer

The memorial service for Emily Salsbury Plummer will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Trail Community Church in Trail. Pastor Ron Welch will officiate. Inurnment will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in Fort Bliss, Texas.

Mrs. Plummer, 96, of Shady Cove, died Saturday (March 30, 2002) at her home.

She was born May 30, 1905, in Bisbee, Ariz., to Juan and Panfila Barragan. In 1951, she married Dudley Salsbury and moved to El Paso, Texas, to raise her family. He preceded her in death. She later married Richard Plummer, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Plummer was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Silverdale, Wash. She moved to the Rogue Valley 16 years ago from Port Orchard, Wash.

She enjoyed flowers, people and animals of all kinds.

Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Hoover, Shady Cove; two sons, Richard E. Salsbury and Charles H. Salsbury, both El Paso, Texas; a sister, Della Long, El Paso, Texas; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a granddaughter.

C. Ray Finchum

The graveside service for C. Ray Finchum will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Butte Falls Cemetery.

Mr. Finchum, 81, of Butte Falls, died Saturday (March 30, 2002) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

He was born July 25, 1920, in Dandridge, Tenn., to Jarue R. and Annie (Catlet) Finchum. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1955 from Leavenworth, Wash.

Mr. Finchum worked in road construction for Medco, retiring in 1981.

He was a member of Union Local No. 3-221.

Mr. Finchum enjoyed working on old cars, welding and designing and making mechanical gadgets.

Survivors include his companion, Louise Hunsaker, Butte Falls; two sons, Ray Finchum Jr., Carson City, Nev., and Dave Webb, Henderson, Nev.; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; a son, Pat Webb; and one grandson.

Arthur Keith Dusenberry

The funeral service for Arthur Keith Dusenberry will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hull & Hull Chapel, Grants Pass. Interment will follow at Rock Point Cemetery in Gold Hill.

Mr. Dusenberry, 85, of Grants Pass, died Saturday (March 30, 2002) at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass.

He was born May 4, 1916, in Grants Pass. He graduated from Gold Hill High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1980, he married Illene Griffin, who survives.

After the war, Mr. Dusenberry started building houses and worked in construction until his retirement.

He was a member of the Easy Valley Sams for 14 years and the Good Sam Club.

Mr. Dusenberry enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and spending time with his family.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Minnie Creasey, Kay Chisholm, and Patricia Bohannon, all Grants Pass; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Griffin, and an infant daughter.

S.L. 'Swede' Johnston

S.L. "Swede" Johnston, 88, of Medford, died Saturday (March 30, 2002) at his home. No service is planned. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 12, 1914, in Medford, to Lucien and Elizabeth (Blackburn) Johnston. On Feb. 17, 1970, in Grants Pass, he married Amy Gail Cantrall, who died in 2000.

Mr. Johnston was a carpenter and a member of Carpenters Union Local No. 2067.

He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II. Mr. Johnston enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include a stepson, Bill Whitman, Medford; and a stepdaughter, Donna Lee Lewis, Medford.

Dale Richard Paul

Dale Richard Paul, 54, of Eagle Point, died Thursday (March 28, 2002) in Eagle Point. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Oregon Humane Society, 2910 Table Rock Road, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Aug. 30, 1947, in Riverside, Calif., to Wallace and Vera Paul.

Mr. Paul worked for Medply in White City for seven years, until his death. He lived in the Rogue Valley most of his life.

He enjoyed animals.

Survivors include two brothers, David, Medford, and Roger, Central Point. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Vera Paul; and a brother, Loren Wallace Paul.

Charles Webb

Charles Webb, 72, of Medford, died Friday (March 29, 2002) at Hearthstone in Medford. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date.

He was born Jan. 30, 1930, in Independence, Mo., to Nathanial and Stella Webb. He graduated from high school in Independence, Mo., and then attended a year of college at Kansas City, Mo. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1991 from Kansas City, Mo.

Mr. Webb was a long-haul and short-haul truck driver. He was a member of the Missouri Teamsters Union.

He was an active member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Anna Peterson, Medford, and Paula Webb, Ashland; and one grandchild.

Alma McKinney Jeska

Alma McKinney Jeska, 80, of Medford, died Monday (April 1, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford. No service is planned. Private inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

She was born May 21, 1921, in Liberty, Iowa, to Sara and Richard H. McKinney. On Nov. 30, 1942, in Reno, Nev., she married John Fredrick Jeska, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1960 from Seaside, Calif.

Mrs. Jeska packed pears and roses for Harry and David for 37 years.

She was a member of the Eagles Lodge.

Mrs. Jeska enjoyed farm life and spending time with her family.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Gary, Medford; a daughter, Marilyn Caswell, Mapleton; a brother, Richard H. McKinney, Lakeport, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacque Bliss; two brothers, Homer and Charlie; and a sister, Eva.

Lawrence Leroy Powell

Lawrence Leroy Powell, 94, of Ashland, died Sunday (March 31, 2002) at his home. No service is planned.

M. Jeanette McCain

M. Jeanette McCain, 84, of Medford, died Monday (April 1, 2002) at a local foster care home. Arrangements will be announced by Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.

Chad McGrath

Chad McGrath, 25, formerly of Central Point, died Sunday (March 31, 2002) in a motor vehicle accident near Trinity Center, Calif. Arrangements will be announced by Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point.

Mary Kathleen Adams

Mary Kathleen Adams, 66, of Medford, died Monday (April 1, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.

Jack Cleaves

Jack Cleaves, 88, of Medford, died Monday (April 1, 2002) at Hearthstone. Arrangements will be announced by Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.
