Financial consultant Sevcik receives First Citizen award By GREG STILES Simply look at April Sevcik's resume and it's rather impressive, local business leaders say. Sevcik received The Chamber of Medford/Jackson County's First Citizen award Thursday night during the organization's annual dinner and awards banquet at Rogue Valley Country Club. "There's a list of accomplishments as long as my arm that you can attribute to April," said Chamber President Brad Hicks. Sevcik is a financial consultant for Salomon Smith Barney. From 1984 to 2000, she was the owner of General Credit Service in Medford, servicing and selling to the medical utility and small business market. From 1997 to 2000, she was a partner in the credit bureau of Placer County, Roseville, Calif., where she provided strategic planning, financial control and consultation. She also managed local phone service for Pacific Northwest Bell. "For over 10 years she ran it and ran it well, receiving an honor of 'Best Manager of Pacific Northwest Bell,' " said Patsy Smullin, president and owner of KOBI. Sevcik has also served as the Asante board's vice chairman, on the Oregon Growth Board and the Southern Oregon University Foundation. She is a past president of the Chamber. She was co-chair for the Visual Arts Building Project at Southern Oregon University, raising $11.2 million; chairman of the Airport Advisory Board; president of Consumer Credit Counseling Board; president of Southern Oregon University Regional Advisory Board; president of United Way; and president of the Camp Fire board.
