Police still seek clues in Kaelin case
Five years ago, 15-year-old Kaelin Glazier vanished without a trace from her home at 181 Upper Applegate Road in Ruch. Today, on the anniversary marking her disappearance, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department is asking anyone with information regarding the case to come forward. "Maybe (the anniversary) will refresh somebody's memory," Sgt. Rich Fogarty said. "We still have our eyes and ears open." Glazier was last seen Nov. 6, 1996. She was supposed to walk from her home to a church youth group meeting at Applegate Christian Fellowship on Highway 238. She never arrived at the meeting or returned home. Investigators interviewed hundreds of people. Police and her family believe she is dead. According to the sheriff's department, Glazier was last seen at a nearby residence with an acquaintance, William "Billy" Simmons. Although Simmons has been identified as a "person of interest," he was never charged with a crime and little is known about what transpired after Kaelin visited him. Fogarty said the investigation will not stop until Kaelin is located and the person responsible for her disappearance is held accountable. "It's still way open and way active," he added. Anyone with information is urged to contact the sheriff's department at 774-6800 or the Federal Bureau of Investgation-Medford office at 773-2942. |
