Dorothy Jeane Frostrom The funeral service for Dorothy Jeane Frostrom will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Central Valley Chapel in Central Point. Mrs. Frostrom, 79, of Eagle Point, died Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2001) at her home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 33 N. Central Ave., Suite 330, Medford, OR 97501. She was born Feb. 15, 1922, in Pasadena, Calif., the daughter of Oren and Fern Waters. On Feb. 26, 1969, in Arcadia, Calif., she married Roy Frostrom, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 16 years ago from Lake Tahoe, Nev. Mrs. Frostrom was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Scott, Ontario, Calif.; a stepson, Rayle Jantzen, Newberg, Ore.; a daughter, Vicki Mangold, Montclair, Calif.; two brothers, Robert and Don Waters, both Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ed Hempel, and three brothers, Ray, Alan and Tom Waters. Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point.
Delmar 'Bud' C. Goldsberry Delmar "Bud" Clinton Goldsberry, 93, of Medford, died Wednesday (Oct. 31, 2001) at a local foster care home. The memorial service will be held at a later date. He was born Sept. 15, 1908, in Springville, Iowa, a son of Frank and Stella Goldsberry. On Aug. 3, 1940, in San Jose, Calif., he married Irma Jesse Nolan, who preceded him in death. Mr. Goldsberry worked for the telephone company for 35 years, retiring in 1969. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Roseville, Calif., a year and a half ago. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Cox, Monterey, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Scott Vibbard Scott Vibbard, 31, of Eagle Point, died Wednesday (Oct. 31, 2001) at his home. A private memorial service will be held later. He was born June 11, 1970, in Silverton, a son of Gene and Shirley Vibbard. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990 from Tennessee. On July 9, 1994, in Medford, he married Kimberly Scriven, who survives. Mr. Vibbard owned and operated L. Scott Vibbard Dry Wall. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and astronomy. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Tyler Reeves, Medford, and Joseph Scott and Andrew Loy Vibbard, both Eagle Point; his parents, Gene and Shirley Vibbard, White City; two sisters, Becky and Chrissy Vibbard, White City. He was preceded in death by a brother, Randal. Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point.
Homer Glenn Browning Homer Glenn Browning, 80, of Medford, died Friday (Nov. 2, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned. Interment will be in Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Crater Lake Ave., Suite 10, Medford, OR 97504. He was born Jan. 4, 1921, in Summerhill, Ill., a son of Homer and Florence Browning. He married Audrey McBride, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 4, 1997, in Hamilton, Mont., he married Elsie McBride, who survives. Mr. Browning left Illinois and joined the U.S. Navy, where he served for 20 years. During World War II, he served in the South Seas. After the service, he taught high school in the Los Angeles school system. He lived in San Diego County until 1996, when he moved to Hamilton, Mont. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a Lakers fan. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Dennis Browning, Medford, Michael McBride, Albuquerque, N.M., and Kenneth McBride, Hamilton, Mont.; a daughter, Esther Stewart, Kenai, Alaska; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.
Alfred Schaeffer Alfred Schaeffer, 93, of Medford, died Friday (Nov. 2, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned. He was born April 20, 1908, in Ebingen, Germany, the son of Hermann and Sophie Schaeffer. On May 3, 1934, in Elgin, Ill., he married Loretta Irene Beckman, who died in 1999. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1973 from Phoenix, Ariz. Mr. Schaeffer was a coordinator for Motorola, Inc., in Scottsdale, Ariz., from 1954 until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of the Talent Friends Church, the Tilth Gardening Club, and was a 50-year member of Rosemead Masonic Lodge No. 457. Mr. Schaeffer was a volunteer for Loaves and Fishes and the Britt Festival. He enjoyed gardening, cultivating roses, reading and classical music. Survivors include a son, Allen, Mount Shasta, Calif.; two daughters, Janet Begalla, Westlake Village, Calif., and Anne Hadden, New York, N.Y.; three sisters, Elfriede Schaeffer, Stuttgart, Germany, Hermine Reh, Heidenheim, Germany, and Linde Maechtle, Heilbronn, Germany; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.
Dale James Hearrell Dale James Hearrell, 79, of Medford, died Friday (Nov. 2, 2001) at his home. Arrangements will be announced by Conger-Morris Funeral Directors of Medford.
Ida Amelia Conrad Ida Amelia Conrad, 81, of Spanaway, Wash., previously of White City, died Thursday (Nov. 1, 2001). Funeral arrangements will be announced by Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford.
Lelia Mae Hoskins The memorial service for Lelia Mae Hoskins will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Trail Cemetery in Trail. The Rev. Ron Welch of Trail Community Church will officiate. Mrs. Hoskins, 90, died Thursday (Nov. 1, 2001) at Three Fountains Nursing Center in Medford. She was born June 24, 1911, in Medford. On June 30, 1929, in Terra Bella, Calif., she married Thomas N. Drake. They were later divorced. On Sept. 23, 1967, in Medford, she married James M. Hoskins, who died in 1991. Mrs. Hoskins was a granddaughter of a pioneer family that settled in the Laurelhurst area. The Peyton Bridge at Lost Creek Lake is named for her grandfather, Ruben Peyton. She went to school in Laurelhurst and worked as a welder in shipyards in World War II. She later worked as a nurse and was an owner of The Bright Spot in Central Point 1972-73. She worked with her husband in the woods as a fire lookout. She enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. Survivors include a son, Richard N. Drake, Central Point; a daughter, Joyce M. White, Central Point; a sister, Freda Evans, Morro Bay, Calif.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary.
Charles E. Cooper The funeral for Charles E. "Chuck" Cooper will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2001) at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church in Central Point. The Rev. Jim Clifford will officiate. A private interment is planned at Mountain View Cemetery in Ashland. Mr. Cooper, 74, of Medford, died Wednesday at Providence Medford Medical Center. Donations may be made to the Providence Cancer Center, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504. He was born June 25, 1927, in Ashland, a son of Elmer and Dora Mae Cooper. The family lived in the mountains east of town near Jenny Creek. He went to Lincoln School and schools in the Lakeview area. On Aug. 8, 1998, in Medford, he married Dona Jeanne Libby, who survives. Mr. Cooper served on the USS Milner as a fireman. He worked in the lumber and construction industries and as a short-haul truck driver. He was a member of the Teamsters and worked on the construction of Lost Creek Dam. An avid member of Alcoholics Anonymous, he served as a foster grandparent and Roosevelt and Central Point schools, where he was known as "Grandpa Chuck." He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Laurie Kuehmichel, Grants Pass; a son, Rick Cooper, Salem; a sister, Ilamae Sorter, Adin, Calif.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Odessa Joaquin, and two brothers, Robert and Williams Cooper. Arrangements: Abbey Funeral.

Jean Francis Jean Francis, 83, formerly of Ashland, died Friday (Nov. 2, 2001) at her home in Klamath Falls. Arrangements to be announced by Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.
Arleta Morningstar The memorial service for Arleta L. Morningstar will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church, Medford. The Rev. Tim Tiffney will officiate. Burial will be in the Williams Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Morningstar, 92, of Medford, died Friday (Nov. 2, 2001) at Hearthstone Manor. She was born Sept. 17, 1909, in Provolt, a daughter of Herman and Mattie Messinger. On Jan. 1, 1935, in Medford, she married Gerford Morningstar. She worked as a stenographer for some years. Surviving are three nieces, Bette Hyde, of Ruch; Charlotte Mueller, of Lebanon; and Joyce Messinger, of Provolt. She was preceded in death by one nephew. Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home.
