Bad film fans meet next April 1

My wife and I read about Ashland’s Bad Film Society’s showing of "Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter." It sounds like just the kind of wacky social scene we’ve been looking for. When is the society’s next get-together and what movie is on tap?

— S. Wright, Grants Pass

Bad Film Society members would likely be ecstatic over your company. Just remember to bring something good to eat — each gathering starts off with a potluck.

The society’s next film screening is tentatively set for 6 p.m. April 1 at the Ashland Middle School Science Institute off Walker Avenue. Enter building F, the older building facing the new parking lot by the railroad tracks, and follow the smell of homemade food.

Event co-organizer Ed Polish says the horrid film you’ll see will likely be "Missile to the Moon," a trashy remake of a trashy remake of "Queen of Outer Space." To whet your appetite, Polish and bad film buddy John Javna probably will start the evening with the next episode of "The Attack of the Purple Monster," especially considering the near mutiny by society groupies resulting from missing the show this month.

For current Bad Film Society logistics, you can call Polish at 488-5117 or e-mail him at ephemera@mind.net

Our recycling answer in Since You Asked in Monday’s paper wasn’t quite complete.

Rogue Disposal and Recycling is not the only recycling company in the Rogue Valley. You don’t have to be an Ashland resident to take recyclables to the Ashland Recycling Center on Water Street in Ashland. You can drop off those small, clear plastic water bottles and magazines that Rogue Disposal won’t pick up (but will accept at its transfer station on Table Rock Road).

Ashland’s recycling center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Tuesdays.
